Funding Real Estate: Win, Lose, or Draw?

Sean Dobson, Amherst’s Chairman, CEO & CIO, spoke at the Milken Institute’s Global Conference on a panel titled “Funding Real Estate: Win, Lose, or Draw?”
Moderated by Bloomberg’s Carol Massar, the panel discussed how capital market participants are adjusting their positions in face of current market dynamics and explored nuances across various property types, including U.S. housing.
“Coming out of the financial crisis, a lot of people said ‘we’re going to buy all of these subprime mortgage bonds and mortgage originators and wait until the machine comes back on.’ We knew the “machine” was not coming back on. Homes are going to be rented, not owned – and that’s the paradigm we’re seeing today.”
